The House on Lounsbury

I’ve always been drawn to older homes with angled ceilings, awkward spaces and subtle quirks that make a house feel as though it has a story. Ten months into our search, I visited a friend who had just finished her new build.

I wanted the house to feel settled. Not old, necessarily, but as though it had already been lived in. As though it had already belonged to someone.

The house on Lounsbury sits on forty acres. Twenty of them are wooded. Trees are continually falling, leaving more wood than you could ever burn through. So a gas fireplace never felt like an option. A wood-burning fireplace was the obvious decision. The stone that surrounded it took more thought.
