House & Story

For Jackie, good design begins with paying attention. Before making a decision, she wants to understand the home, the architecture, the site, and most importantly, how the people living there want to use the space. She tends to observe before acting, question the obvious solution, and research until the options are clear.

Every home presents a different set of possibilities. Jackie looks for the character and potential in each, allowing the home itself to help shape the decisions. She considers how those decisions connect to the larger project—balancing budget, construction, longevity, and the resources being used to create the home.

The best projects are collaborative. Builders, tradespeople, architects, and homeowners each bring something valuable to the process, and the finished result is better when those perspectives come together.

Jackie has lived in Michigan her entire life and has a deep appreciation for the way a home can reflect its surroundings. The state’s mix of old and new, rural and urban, has shaped the way she thinks about architecture, materials, and what makes a home feel at home in its setting.

She currently lives in Mid-Michigan with her husband, their two daughters, and their highly energetic Aussie, Gilbert.

House & Story comes from the idea that every home already has a story of its own. The work is to listen to what’s already there and continue the story in a way that feels intentional and uniquely suited to the people who call it home.
